Pet Dental Health Month

As most of you know by now, February is National Pet Dental Health month, but do you know why you should be concerned about what’s going on inside your pet’s mouth? Did you know 4 out of 5 dogs over the age of 3 have some sort of periodontal disease?

Other than the bad breath that comes along with pet dental problems, dental disease can actually lead to much more serious issues for your pet’s organs such as the heart. It can also result in your pet losing teeth which isn’t fun for anyone.

You can get more detailed information at the AVMA website.

I’m sure that at this point it seems like we’re just trying to scare you into spending money on yet another procedure at the vet, but the truth is that we just want your pet to be pain free and to have the longest and happiest life possible.  We feel that taking care of their dental health is a big part of achieving that goal.  We have free dental exams at the hospital all month, so you can come in and find out if your dog needs any dental help without spending a dime.
